It will ‘take a lot’ for Wolves fans to accept new transfer target as they highlight key problem

Wolves are looking to dip into the transfer market over the coming weeks to sign Aaron Ramsdale on loan, however, there is one massive issue for many of the Molineux faithful.

The club has had a quiet few weeks on the transfer front. Since the start of July, Wolves have not signed a single player, yet, both Max Kilman and Pedro Neto have been allowed to depart the club.

This has caused many of the Molineux faithful to become uneasy about the new campaign. Their fears only heightened yesterday when it was reported that Wolves were only willing to spend £20 million between now and the end of the transfer window.

However, it is now believed that Wolves are looking to sign Aaron Ramsdale. The goalkeeper struggled for game time at Arsenal last season and he could now be on his way to the Old Gold on loan.

Yet, despite his credentials as an England international, there is one big factor that is putting many Wolves fans off signing him.

Wolves fans unwilling to see West Brom fan Aaron Ramsdale join the club

Throughout his career so far, it has been no secret that Ramsdale is a West Brom fan. The goalkeeper was born in Staffordshire and has long been affiliated with the Baggies.

In multiple games, Ramsdale has celebrated against Wolves, doing the ‘Boing Boing’ celebration.

With the 26-year-old now being heavily linked to Molineux, many supporters do not want to see the goalkeeper move to the club.

However, other Wolves fans are willing to see past his West Brom links and believe the goalkeeper would be a good addition to the side.

Footballers playing for their rival clubs is not uncommon but Wolves do not need Aaron Ramsdale

The fact Ramsdale is a West Brom fan should not matter in this transfer. In football, it is not uncommon for players to play for their rival clubs.

Matt Doherty, who transferred to Spurs in 2020, was a known Arsenal fan, while Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is well known to have supported Everton as a child.

If Ramsdale was to join Wolves, being a West Brom fan would not affect his performances. The goalkeeper no doubt wants to become England’s number one and get his career back on track.

However, the fact is that Wolves simply do not need Ramsdale. Jose Sa is perfectly fine as the current number one. While the Portuguese international does have a mistake in him, he makes this up throughout the season with excellent saves.

If Wolves do only have £20 million to spend over the next two weeks, upgrading the goalkeeping department should not be the priority, especially when it can be argued that Rasmdale isn’t better than Sa.
