Wolves linked with Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba

90min have reported today that Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking at Barcelona starlet Ilaix Moriba.

According to 90min, Bruno Lage’s side are one of many Premier League teams who have been offered the 18-year-old midfielder.

With Wolves being approached to gage their interest in the La Masia product, he could be a much-needed addition to their midfield this summer.

However, Wolves face heavy competition for his services. The report claims that all of the ‘Top Six’ and various other clubs have been offered the midfielder also.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs who are keen on the 18-year-old midfielder.

Who is Ilaix Moriba?

Born in 2003, Moriba is one of a number of exceptional talents to emerge from Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy.

He made his debut in January, featuring in a Copa del Rey victory over lower league side Cornella.

Following his debut, Moriba recorded 14 La Liga appearances, scoring one goal and managing three assists.

In a profile by Scouted Football, they described him as a player with excellent positional awareness, athleticism and pressing abilities.

Potentially leaving Barcelona

Moriba seemed to be on course to be part of Barcelona’s midfield for years to come.

However, contract talks with his club this summer have not gone well, and now there is a genuine chance that he could leave Barcelona this summer.

It has been reported by Marca that Moriba’s release clause it £85 million, although his transfer fee would be considerably lower due to his contract scenario. He is out of contract at Barcelona next summer.

The player would be an excellent addition for Wolves. Not only would he suit the club’s recruitment strategy in acquiring talented youngsters, but he would also fill a void in the team’s midfield.
