‘I think’: Max Kilman reacts to Matheus Nunes going on strike and forcing Wolves exit

Matheus Nunes is to join Manchester City, after going on strike at Wolves to force through a move – and captain Max Kilman has now given his thoughts about what the midfielder has done.

Wolves and City have reportedly now reached a verbal agreement for a transfer.

Nunes is on his way to the Etihad to finalise a move.

A medical should take place today.

The player has got his wish, after refusing to train at Wolves since Sunday.

His behaviour has been slammed by fans and pundits alike.

And now, Kilman has given his thoughts about Nunes’ antics…

Kilman has conducted an interview with Sky Sports, and was asked about the Nunes situation.

Wolves fans hoping he might ‘go in’ on Nunes will be disappointed.

Kilman said of the Portuguese: “His decision is his decision. He’s a really good guy, really good player. Whatever happens, happens. We have to deal with it as it comes.”

Asked if he felt a responsibility to try and persuade him to stay, Kilman said: “No not so much. I think every player, they’ve got their own thing that they need to deal with. He’s got his own aspirations or whatever so whatever he decides… if he’s back at Wolves or if he moves on, we’re just going to have to carry on and do our best.”

Asked if Kilman had been able to speak Nunes, he said: “Not so much. right now it’s quite a busy period for us as a team, and for him whatever he needs to sort out. So not so much contact. Whatever happens we’ll find out after the transfer window and we’ll go from there.

Kilman never likely to criticise Nunes

It was probably always unlikely that Kilman would dig Nunes out in a public interview for what he has done.

Ultimately, Kilman does have a good relationship with Nunes and so his comments about the midfielder and his situation are understandable.

Perhaps privately though, Kilman will feel a little disappointed in his friend.

Nunes has undoubtedly behaved in a manner that is very unprofessional.

To refuse to train is a very poor reflection on him, and Wolves fans will not forget that when he comes back to Molineux with City.
