How Wolves will feel about Ait-Nouri and Gomes if Pedro Neto leaves this summer

Wolves are said to be ‘confident’ of keeping hold of two key players even if Pedro Neto leaves the club this summer.

It has long been expected that Pedro Neto will be the next big player sale at Molineux.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a fine season in 2023/24, scoring three goals and making 11 assists. His game time was limited though as a result of sustaining two serious hamstring injuries.

Despite only being available for around half of Wolves’ games, Neto is attracting a lot of attention going into the summer.

Some have wondered what him leaving would then mean for other players in the squad.

Because Rayan Ait-Nouri and Joao Gomes have both been linked with exits as well. But it seems Wolves are not anticipating losing those two in addition to Neto…

We have been hearing recently that Wolves are in a better position than they were last summer.

A year ago, Wolves were in a very precarious financial position, which meant a number of players had to be offloaded so that the profit and sustainability loss limit would not be breached.

This time around, there will be more freedom for Wolves.

However, it is still expected that there will be departures.

But it looks as though the club will only make one big sale this summer, with talkSPORT claiming Wolves are ‘confident’ of keeping hold of key duo Gomes and Ait-Nouri, even if they lose Neto.

It is stated that Gary O’Neil is already planning for life with those two players in his squad for next season.

Fantastic news for Wolves

This is really positive news for Wolves, because fans definitely don’t want a summer like 2023 again.

It sounds very much as though Neto will be the big sale of the summer. However, you cannot rule out big offers coming in for £10 million gem Ait-Nouri and Gomes.

Ideally, Neto will be sold fairly early, which will allow the club plenty of time to go out and replace him. Manchester City and Newcastle United are keen, with Wolves seeking around £60 million to sell.

Hopefully, Neto’s injury record won’t prove to be too much of an issue. It has been suggested that Newcastle do have some concerns about that.

It would be great if Wolves could indeed keep hold of Ait-Nouri and Gomes for at least another season. These two players both have huge potential, and their market values could sky-rocket in the next year. The club could ultimately sell them both for an absolute fortune.
