How Wolves feel about potential Aaron Ramsdale move as club make proposal

Wolves are set for a busy period, with the transfer market coming to an end.

The 2024 summer window closes for English clubs on August 30, meaning time is now really of the essence for Wolves to get new players into the club.

Three new faces came in early doors at Wolves.

Fans were left very excited after the arrivals of Rodrigo Gomes, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Pedro Lima.

But Wolves haven’t brought in any more players since the trio and have stood still since the start of July. Meanwhile, Max Kilman and Pedro Neto have both left.

But one man who might be making a late move to Molineux is Aaron Ramsdale, with David Ornstein dropping an update last night.

Wolves accept Aaron Ramsdale deal would be difficult

Wolves have been linked with Ramsdale loosely over the summer, but yesterday there were a couple of reports about the club making an approach for the England international.

Last night, the highly reliable David Ornstein shared what he knows of the situation.

It looks like Wolves do have interest in Ramsdale. But it is not going to be a straightforward deal to do.

He said on X: “EXCL: Wolves make proposal to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal. Initial loan + buy option + #WWFC would cover majority of 26yo goalkeeper’s wages.

“Acceptance at Molineux deal difficult due to finances involved but talks with #AFC continue @TheAthleticFC.”

At the moment there is no word on how much the buy option would be worth. It is also mentioned that it is unclear if Dan Bentley, a player Arsenal have already tried to sign this summer, will be part of any talks between the two clubs regarding Ramsdale.

Given Wolves’ interest in Ramsdale, it is probably fairly safe to assume that things are happening behind the scenes with Jose Sa.

It was reported at the start of the summer that Jorge Mendes was sounding out interest from other clubs in the Molineux number one.

Wolves would not bring Ramsdale to the club if they did not intend to make him their number one. And the player would not join.

It could all hinge on Sa

It will be really interesting to see if Ramsdale becomes a Wolves player by the end of this window.

It could well be that it will entirely depend on what happens with Sa, and whether the Portuguese stopper is able to get himself a move.

If he ends up leaving, then Wolves must ensure that Ramsdale is signed.

One potential bit of good news on this situation for Wolves though is that Arsenal are said to be looking at Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia as a potential replacement for Ramsdale. Seemingly they are preparing for his exit, and Fabrizio Romano says there is already an agreement on personal terms.
