Wolves are closing in on a move for AZ Alkmaar left-back David Moller Wolfe, and Molineux News can reveal how the club feel about him replacing Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Wolves are targeting four key positions after signing Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias, with a new left wing-back high on the agenda following Ait-Nouri’s move to Manchester City in June.
The Algerian produced a stunning 2024/25 campaign at Molineux, becoming arguably the best left-back in the Premier League after returning the most goal involvements of any defender.
In searching for a replacement for the 24-year-old, Vitor Pereira has encountered many problems. Wolves wanted to sign Samuel Lino from Atletico Madrid, but he favoured a move to Flamengo instead.
Several other names have also been linked, but after almost two months of speculation, it appears the Wanderers have found their replacement.

Wolves are happy about David Moller Wolfe replacing Rayan Ait-Nouri
In June, Wolves showed an interest in David Moller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar after watching him return three goals and eight assists across an outstanding campaign.
There was no update surrounding his future until Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Thursday that Wolves agreed a £10 million transfer for the 23-year-old, with Wolfe set to undergo his medical in the next 24 hours.
To gain further insight into the logistics of the deal, Molineux News spoke exclusively to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who revealed that Wolves have beaten Leeds United, Brighton, Roma, Lille, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Stade Rennes to his signature.
Bailey was also able to share how Wolves feel internally about landing Wolfe as a replacement for Ait-Nouri, and he said: “Moller-Wolfe has a big reputation, so many clubs looked at him but Wolves are the ones who have now made the push.
“The question was whether he is ready for the Premier League but Wolves think he has – I am told they have really done their work on him.
“Wolves really believe this is a good deal, they believe he is a great fit to their system.”
Bailey also added that fellow Norwegian Jorgen Strand Larsen played a part in securing a transfer, just as he did with Lopez.
“Sources suggest that Moller Wolfe has been talked up by his international team-mate Jorgen Strand-Larsen,” he said.
Wolfe’s career so far
Wolfe started his career at a team called Bergen Nord in Norway before being snapped up by SK Brann in the summer of 2019.
A loan move to Asane followed in 2020, and that was the catalyst for him to become a key player for Brann, cementing himself as a top talent in Norway.
The left-back made 69 appearances for Brann and produced two goals and seven assists, which earned him a switch to AZ Alkmaar in May 2023.
Since then, Wolfe has established himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in the Eredivisie, as demonstrated by his return of four goals and 10 assists in 92 appearances for the club.
