How much Wolves will pay to turn Jorgen Strand Larsen’s loan move permanent

Wolves have dropped money on one player so far in January – but the club will now need to do so with a second.

On Saturday, Wolves booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup by beating Bristol City 2-1 at Ashton Gate.

Goals from Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rodrigo Gomes were enough for Wolves to advance, and Wolves will now take on Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round.

Fans would love to see a cup run, with that defeat to Coventry City last season still a sore one.

For now though, until tomorrow night’s game with Newcastle United, the focus is on transfers – and Wolves will now complete the permanent signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen.

It’s been reported by the Express & Star that Jorgen Strand Larsen’s latest appearance for Wolves against Bristol City now means he’s passed the threshold of appearances needed to turn his move permanent.

Strand Larsen has only been on loan at Wolves from Celta Vigo, which cost the club £2.5 million.

But now, having made 20 Premier League appearances and a further two in cup competitions, Wolves must cough up for a permanent transfer.

It’s thought £23 million must now be paid to Celta.

Strand Larsen has enjoyed a great start at Wolves

So Wolves will now turn Strand Larsen’s move to the club permanent having now played the required number of games – and it’s what he deserves.

Strand Larsen hasn’t had the best past couple of games, but for the most part this season he’s been a great addition to the side.

It’s never easy for a striker to come to the Premier League from overseas and hit the ground running straight away.

But Strand Larsen has hit a respectable seven goals and two assists so far, which is a good return on top of the goals Matheus Cunha has scored.

Steve Bull warned Strand Larsen he’d lack service at times at Wolves, and that has sometimes been the case. But despite this, he’s still been fairly impactful, and links up well with his teammates and runs the channels in addition to scoring goals.

What’s important now is for Strand Larsen to keep performing.

A few years ago, Wolves fans saw the club turn Hwang Hee-chan’s loan move permanent after a bright start, and the South Korean then had a period of poor form that lasted quite a while.

The Norwegian has yet to really have an extended period of poor from, and hopefully, the money that Wolves will now pay to sign him won’t serve as a burden for the big man.
