How much Wolves could ‘realistically’ get for both Andre and Joao Gomes in January

The January transfer window is almost upon us, and it is likely that several players will be leaving Wolves.

It has been a dreadful season, and the likelihood is that it is going to end in relegation after eight years in the Premier League.

Following a terrible summer that resulted in a significantly weaker squad than last season, Wolves have managed to take just two points from their first 17 games.

Wolves fans, tell us below which players you think will actually leave the club in January! ❌

That means Wolves have taken the joint-fewest points ever by Christmas, equalling the haul that Sheffield United got a few seasons ago.

We are now starting to receive reports linking Wolves players with early exits.

And two players who could be on their way out are Andre and Joao Gomes, with Johnny Phillips suggesting how much they could sell for.

It is widely accepted that Andre and Joao Gomes are two of Wolves’ best players, if not the best.

The Brazilians have previously had some very good games together in midfield. But this season, they have struggled.

Recently, fans have accused them of being a bit too similar and one dimensional. There is a lack of creativity in both players which has become more obvious this term.

Over the past few weeks, both players have been linked with exits.

Recently, it was claimed Galatasaray wanted Andre.

And Joao Gomes was heavily linked with Manchester United, although that talk has died down somewhat.

Would a combined £60m be a fair price for Andre and Joao Gomes? 🤔

Johnny Phillips has suggested that could be the extent of any return for the duo in January…

But journalist and Wolves fan Johnny Phillips, who has connections at Molineux, has suggested in his latest Substack column that both could depart in January – and he believes they could go for a combined fee of around £60 million.

He said: “It is hard to see Joao Gomes wanting to remain, in light of significant interest among Premier League clubs and genuine enquiries from abroad. Andre is wanted by Juventus, among others.

“Wolves do not hold many chips right now and if Fosun’s policy continues then, realistically, £60 million for the pair may be the extent of any return. But if both players moved on it would send a terrible message to the remainder of the squad.”

Andre and Gomes sales feeling more likely now

There was a point a few weeks ago whereby the notion of Wolves selling either Andre or Joao Gomes was preposterous.

Ultimately, they are top players who are simply not in good form.

Now, with Wolves 16 points adrift of safety, it feels like at least one of them will be going in January.

The situation feels too far gone for Wolves and so a rebuild ahead of Championship football next season should commence now.

If Wolves were to sell the Brazilians for a combined £60 million, then that would be a decent chunk of money to help with said rebuild.
