How much money Wolves will have to spend in the January transfer window

Wolves didn’t have a large amount of money to spend in the summer but with big sales easing concerns, what about January?

Wolves were very concerned before the sale of Matheus Nunes about the club’s finances.

There was a worry that they could end up in a similar scenario to where Everton found themselves.

But careful planning in the summer coupled with big sales of Ruben Neves along with Nunes, has eased the worries and the expectation is Wolves’ issues are behind them.

However, this doesn’t mean January will be free spending for Gary O’Neil as it’s now been claimed there is a fixed amount Wolves can spend.

What is Wolves’ budget in January?

Speaking exclusively with GiveMeSport, Neil Moxley has made a claim over Wolves’ transfer limitations in the upcoming market.

“I think somewhere between £7m-£10m. I think that’s about right. I think that’s the sort of money they have to spend in January.

“I hope they spend it wisely because adding a few more goals to a team that has struggled a little bit over the years, even when Nuno Espirito Santo was taking them up the league, they relied heavily on the goals of Raul Jimenez and have struggled a little bit to replicate that.”

Moxley then concluded as he explained the position he wants Wolves to target improvements in.

“So yeah, I’d like to see them spend a little bit of money and get an alternative up front because goals are hard to come by.”

In this market, £7m-£10m won’t go very far at all and therefore it’s likely only loan moves or very cheap deals can be done in January unless a big money sale transpires.

Latest Wolves transfer rumours

One name familiar to Wolves fans is Nico Elvedi who was linked throughout the summer, and now it’s been suggested he once again could be looking for a new club.

Another name credited with interest is Burnley’s Josh Brownhill who could be available for cheap in January with his contract expiring in the summer.

Meanwhile, the primary target up front appears to be Serhou Guirassy who is believed to be available for around £17m.
