Wolves fans are hoping for a productive few weeks in the transfer window – and there has now been an update on Miguel Almiron.
It was reported in December that Wolves were looking into signing Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United in January, with Crystal Palace and Leicester City also keen.
The suggestion was that Wolves could look to sign the player on loan.
Almiron has struggled for minutes at Newcastle this season and is very much in the fringes, making just 10 appearances across all competitions.
The Paraguay international was much more prominent a couple of seasons ago, but his stint at St. James’ Park looks to be coming to an end.
Wolves are in the frame to sign him, and have now discovered how much he could cost to land this month.
Almiron offered to Wolves, Crystal Palace and Leicester

Caught Offside have claimed Wolves are in the mix to sign Almiron along with Palace and Leicester, and all three clubs having been offered the player.
But the publication claims that if Newcastle are to offload the player permanently in January, they would want in the region of £16-20 million.
Almiron also has interest from further afield from the likes of Charlotte FC, Santos, Botafogo, Sao Paulo and Palmeiras.
Vitor Pereira has been vocal about adding to the squad this month.
Emmanuel Agbadou will sign for Wolves later this week, but the expectation is that Wolves land one or two more players before the window shuts.
Wolves would be daft spending this much on Almiron
This is a bold claim, and Wolves surely should not be looking to part with this much cash to sign Almiron in January.
Realistically, the 30-year-old just hasn’t done enough this season to warrant paying that much money. He’s also now into the final 18 months of his contract.
Right now, Wolves don’t even have that much of a need for Almiron, with Pereira having options like Matheus Cunha, Goncalo Guedes, Hwang Hee-chan, Carlos Forbs, Pablo Sarabia, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Rodrigo Gomes.

That said, a few of those players, like Guedes, Hwang and Sarabia, have been linked with exits from Molineux.
If one or more of those players leave, then Wolves should maybe look at the Almiron, whom Eddie Howe has previously branded ‘unique’.
But even then, the club should be looking to pay less than the price tag mentioned here, or even try to sign him on loan.
