Goncalo Guedes’ time at Wolves has been interesting to say the least.
The forward arrived at Molineux three years ago from Valencia, and the move by the club was widely praised at the time.
Goncalo Guedes had a good reputation, and the addition of another Portugal international was surely a big positive.
But Guedes failed to make an impression after joining, and also frustrated supporters with his body language at times.
After just half a season, Guedes left Wolves on loan to go to Benfica, with Julen Lopetegui admitting he did not want to be at the club (via Birmingham Mail).
Guedes then spent the following season on loan at Benfica again to begin with, before going to Villarreal for the second half.
Last term, to everyone’s surprise, Guedes stuck around for a full campaign at Wolves after being reintegrated by Gary O’Neil.
It has seemed as though there’s been constant speculation about his future, but the player may well have dropped a hint in a rare interview.
Goncalo Guedes hints at possible Wolves stay

Guedes has been a ‘strong presence’ so far in Wolves’ pre-season.
He was lively during the recent training camp in Portugal, and it has been noted by E&S journalist Nathan Judah and Liam Keen that Guedes has been very smiley, and cut a relaxed figure.
While out in Portugal, Guedes actually conducted an interview, which is something very rare.
He does not tend to speak to reporters very often, so it’s interesting to hear what he has to say – and Guedes might just have hinted what will happen with him this summer.
He said (via E&S): “I feel very well. It was great to have pre-season in my country, with this sun, I think it is very good,” said Guedes.
“I’m feeling very good. The training is hard, but the intensity is good. It’s very important for this part of the season.
“All the time I feel very good in the group. I think I do very well with my teammates, with the coach, with the staff.
“All the people are very nice and this is the most important. Last season, I came after 10 days or 15 days. But now I’ve done everything, all the pre-season, and I think it’s very important for me.
“I’ve had a two difficult years, because I had two surgeries to my knee, and now after the last season, I think I feel very well, very confident. I think this season will be a good season for me.
“The most important is the team starts with a good level and wins the most possible points in the first games.”
Guedes may stay at Wolves amid transfer interest
Arguably, these are not the comments of a player looking to leave the football club.
Guedes sounds very content right now, talking about the season ahead with Wolves and how he is enjoying working with those around him.
Of course, it is still not completely out of the question that he could be sold.
Guedes has been linked with Flamengo this summer, and Besiktas as well. Those clubs could come in with a bid to test Wolves’ resolve.

But Pereira did show a liking for Guedes last season, handing him plenty of opportunities.
And he actually chipped in with 10 goal contributions, showing that he does have quality to offer.
If Guedes really is as dialled in at Wolves as he seems now, then he is worth keeping around, barring a big offer.
It is not really a question of ability with him, so if his head is in the game – and it seems like it is – then under Pereira he could be a great player to have in the squad.
