Goncalo Guedes’ future at Wolves takes a big twist as his asking price is revealed

The future of former Wolves outcast Goncalo Guedes has taken another twist as the club’s asking price for the winger has been revealed.

Going into the summer transfer window, Wolves had multiple outcasts who seemed to have no future at the club.

Many were sent out on loan to various degrees of success. Daniel Podence shone at Olympiacos and helped them win their first-ever European trophy.

On the other hand, Fabio Silva was far less successful at Rangers and the Portuguese striker went viral for a comical miss in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

Another outcast was Guedes who has spent the last 18 months out on loan after failing to impress under Bruno Lage and Julen Lopetegui.

Despite this, Gary O’Neil has brought the winger back into the fold in pre-season which has only enlarged speculation about his Wolves future.

After being left out of the training camp in Spain, the future of Guedes at Wolverhampton Wanderers looked certain – he was set to leave.

However, for Wolves’ pre-season tour in the USA, Guedes was a surprise inclusion in the squad

As a result, the winger has picked up minutes in both of the friendlies so far, aiming to impress the manager.

Now, according to CaughtOffside, he has done exactly that. The report revealed that O’Neil wants Guedes in the squad for the start of Wolves’ Premier League campaign.

However, it was also noted that Villarreal wants the winger this window, after a successful loan spell in 2024.

If Wolves were to lose Guedes, they would demand €20 million, a loss on what they paid two years back.

Wolves should not rush to sell Goncalo Guedes

It is clear that Guedes’ ability has perked the interest of O’Neil. The winger clearly has potential and if the Wolves manager can unlock that, he would be a crucial player to the squad.

The transfer window is still open for another month, this should be used to test Guedes to see if he has the ability to step up and play a part in the upcoming season.

Wolves are currently low in the winger department as it is. Pedro Neto is regularly linked away and Pablo Sarabia is entering the last year of his contract.

If Wolves use Guedes, it would stop them from dipping into the transfer market and could divert funds to another position. If it does not work out over the next month, there is clearly a potential route out for Guedes.
