Genoa ready to approach Fabio Silva again as Wolves make transfer stance very clear

Wolves are ready to part ways with Fabio Silva this summer however, the right conditions must be met.

Gary O’Neil’s focus is firmly on Wolves’ Premier League opener against Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

While the Old Gold have a difficult challenge to overcome at the Emirates Stadium, the manager will carry the belief that his side can bring a result back to the Midlands.

O’Neil’s attention will be on the task in hand in North London however, Matt Hobbs will have an eye on one ongoing transfer saga at the club.

Genoa are preparing another approach for Fabio Silva as Wolves stand firm on transfer

The tale of Fabio Silva’s time at Wolves is one that very few will re-read, as the Portuguese striker looks set to leave Molineux this summer.

Earlier this week, Wolves rejected an offer from Genoa for Silva, as the Serie A side wanted to sign the 22-year-old on an initial loan with an option to buy.

After learning of Wolves’ rejection of the proposal, a further update on Genoa’s stance has now been provided.

Journalist Rudy Galetti confirmed that Genoa aren’t ready to “give up” on signing Silva, with it understood that the Italian club are “preparing a new bid” for the forward.

While Wolves are eager to get the £80k-a-week outsider off the books, it’s clear that the Old Gold are remaining firm on what they want to get from Silva’s eventual exit.

Galetti relayed that Wolves see the only solution as a permanent transfer or at least, a suitable obligation to buy embedded within a loan deal.

Wolves must get what they want from Silva’s exit

Nuno Santo welcomed some gems to Wolves during his tenure however, Silva was certainly not one of them.

The 22-year-old was captured for a monstrous fee of £35.6m from Porto at the age of 18, where he has since failed to make an impact.

Given the price that the Midlands club paid to sign Silva, and the high-earning contract the player was handed, it’s only right that Wolves squeeze what they can from his eventual sale.

Unfortunately, the chance of receiving a price even mildly close to his purchase fee is impossible, as the striker has scored five goals in 72 appearances for the club.

The advantage that Wolves have in the unfortunate situation is that Genoa are eager to sign Silva, giving Hobbs and O’Neil the opportunity to negotiate a deal that works for them.

Silva leaving this summer is guaranteed, with the transfer saga needing to come to an end for both the player and the club’s sake.
