Fresh Wallace Yan claim emerges after recent reports of Wolves interest and agreement

Wolves are after strengthening their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, and there has been a lot of talk about Wallace Yan.

The Flamengo youngster has seen his stock soar recently, with some great cameo performances at the Club World Cup.

Wallace was on target against Chelsea and LAFC out in the US, and recently scored in a game against Sao Paulo.

Wolves have been credited with an interest in Wallace, who is thought to have a release clause of £43 million.

But yesterday, a new claim was made about the South American gem that will probably disappoint some people.

Wolves need new attackers right now.

Matheus Cunha and Pablo Sarabia have left, as has Carlos Forbs – although he will not really be missed as he didn’t play much during his loan spell.

But Hwang Hee-chan has been linked with Birmingham and could leave, while Goncalo Guedes has again had some speculation about his future.

Jhon Arias is wanted by Wolves, although Fluminense now appear to be trying to prevent a move from happening.

And there were claims Wolves were interested in Wallace and that an agreement was even reached – but journalist Ben Jacobs believes there to be nothing in the rumours.

He said on X yesterday: “Understand links between Wolves and Flamengo’s Wallace Yan are wide of the mark.”

Frustration for Wolves fans as Wallace looks a top prospect

There are likely to be twists and turns in this transfer window, but this claim is likely to have some fans feeling a little downbeat.

Wallace is one of the most promising young players in Brazil right now, and has a very high ceiling.

Flamengo clearly recognise that, as they want to hand Wallace a new contract with a greater release clause and higher pay for the player.

Wolves managed to pluck Joao Gomes from Flamengo a couple of years ago.

But at the moment it is looking like a second raid on them is unlikely.
