Former Premier League striker questions Emmanuel Agbadou over impending Wolves transfer

Wolves will soon confirm their first signing of the January transfer window in the form of Emmanuel Agbadou.

Wolves and Reims struck an agreement recently for the defender to make a move to Molineux.

It’s thought Wolves will sign Agbadou for a fee in the region of £15 million.

Agbadou was expected to attend Wolves’ game with Nottingham Forest on Monday. But he did not receive his work permit in time, and was still in France at the time of the game.

He has now done his medical and received his work permit, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that he flew to England yesterday evening.

Wolves fans are excited that a new defender is coming in, and the hope is that he will help to shore up a very shaky backline.

But one man who is slightly skeptical about this move for Agbadou, is former Premier League striker Wilfried Bony.

Agbadou is set to complete a permanent move to Wolves.

But for Wilfried Bony, this is not what he should be doing, given Wolves’ precarious position in the Premier League table.

The former Premier League striker has suggested he should really be making a loan move, telling 225 Foot: “The Premier League remains what it is: an attractive championship where everyone wants to play.

“Agbadou is going into a new environment in the middle of the season, and it will be a very big challenge.

“He should go alone for the last six months of the season, adapt and see at the end of the season if he wants to stay permanently in England in case his club does not survive. That way, he will be able to bring his whole family.”

Agbadou is clearly up for the challenge

Wolves’ position in the Premier League table isn’t so ideal for attracting players right now.

But clearly, Agbadou isn’t being put off and is up for the challenge.

It’s always difficult for new players to make big impacts after signing for a new team in the January transfer window. Often, it’s a case of players having to learn a new way of playing and getting to grips with new tactics and systems.

But Wolves fans will hope that Agbadou gets up to speed quickly once he signs.

The fact he is making a permanent move suggests both he and Wolves are confident that he can help the team to get out of this current situation.

Wolves are expected to hand Pereira two defensive recruits this month, and fans look forward to seeing who will following Agbadou through the door.

Renato Veiga is the latest defender to be linked with Wolves, and the club’s Portuguese contingent may help to lure the Chelsea man to Molineux.
