The talk of Wolves’ transfer window was tying Matheus Cunha down to a new contract but, other players have uncertain futures.
Unfortunately for the Old Gold, it wasn’t only positives that came from the January transfer window.
Wolves missed out on several targets and also lost a former captain, as Mario Lemina joined Galatasaray after a messy transfer saga.
Lemina refused to play before leaving Pereira’s project but, there remains some dissatisfaction within the Wolves squad, as another player’s future is in serious doubt.

Carlton Palmer sends warning to Tommy Doyle amid Wolves transfer links
Several Wolves players are out of contract in the summer, including Pablo Sarabia, Craig Dawson and Nelson Semedo.
While Dawson is guaranteed to leave and the others have unresolved futures, it’s another player whose next steps are under question.
Tommy Doyle is not getting enough game time, leading to the midfielder being linked with a move away from Molineux, whether that be on loan or permanently.
Sheffield United were reported to have interest in Doyle during the January window, but the Blades aren’t the only Championship club looking at Gary O’Neil’s signing.
Sunderland are eyeing Doyle too, with the Black Cat’s transfer wishes being commented on by former England international Carlton Palmer.
In an interview with Football League World, Palmer assessed Sunderland’s chances of signing the Wolves ace and, whether it would be the right decision.
“It’s a difficult one. Doyle wants to play in the Premier League and I think to guarantee his signature, they would need to win promotion.
“The problem for Doyle is that he has gone to Wolves, and he hasn’t played (regularly). You need to get on and be playing football. It’s no good saying you’ve played three or four games and the season has gone again, you have to get on and play.”
Palmer then shared his belief that Doyle might not be interested in signing for Sunderland due to his wishes to play in the Premier League.
“You can’t just sit there and say, ‘I’m at a Premier League club’, if you’re not getting game time. Sometimes you have to go to a club where you’re going to play regularly to enhance your career.
“But, unless Sunderland win promotion, he may not be interested, but if they do go up, they may not have to sell Bellingham, as he might be happy to stay another year in the top flight.”
Palmer’s assessment came from a Sunderland point of view but, painted a rather concerning picture for Doyle, who is facing a season with extremely limited game time.
Vitor Pereira isn’t convinced about Doyle
While Doyle’s quality is clear, the midfielder remains near the bottom of the pile when it comes to how Pereira wants his middle of the park to look.
Matters weren’t made any easier for the 23-year-old as Marshall Munetsi was signed in January, adding even more competition within the squad.

Pereira chose Munetsi over Doyle most recently in the FA Cup, reinforcing the near-impossible position the Manchester City academy graduate finds himself in.
A move away from Wolves would be a surprise considering that the Old Gold only signed Doyle permanently in the summer but, a change in manager has certainly caused a shift in the player’s outlook.
