Pedro Neto is set to end his five-year stay at Wolves this summer with a new now needed at Molineux this season.
The news that seemed inevitable for years finally broke on Friday night as Wolves accepted a record bid from Chelsea for Neto.
Since joining the Molineux side in 2019, the winger became one of the club’s best players and won the Wolves Player of the Season Award in 2021.
However, with rising interest and an inability to stay fit, Gary O’Neil is set to cash in on the winger this summer.
Now, all eyes are on who the club will bring in. Wolves’ first-team had badly lacked depth but additions this summer have helped ease this issue.
Yet, with the departure of Neto for £54 million, there will be an expectation that a suitable replacement will be brought in.
As a result, this article lists five potential replacements for Wolves must consider to replace their star man before the window shuts.
Jack Clarke

The Sunderland winger is the club’s star man. The 23-year-old hit 15 goals and four assists last season and was easily their best player.
This form helped put the Blacks Cats in the promotion mix until February when his injury coincided with Sunderland’s downfall.
Jack Clarke was linked to Wolves in January alongside multiple other Premier League clubs. However, no one managed to acquire the winger’s signature.
This summer, it was widely believed that Clarke would depart the Black Cats but nothing has occurred yet. Around £20 million is said to be enough to pull him away from the Stadium of Light.
With the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Ollie Watkins earning big moves to the Premier League and shining, there is no reason why Wolves cannot do this with Clarke.
Carlos Forbs

As the news surrounding Neto’s departure broke, one player who was instantly linked to the club was Carlos Forbs.
The Ajax winger has just finished his first season of professional football at the Dutch giants after leaving Man City last summer.
At just 20 years old, the attacker is highly rated and would be classed as a homegrown asset.
However, it has also been reported that Wolves would struggle to match Ajax’s asking price for Forbs which could be a stumbling block.

Johnathan Rowe

Playing for Norwich, Jonathan Rowe is a highly-regarded upcoming winger in the Championship.
The 21-year-old hit 13 goals last campaign as he guided the Canaries to the playoffs.
However, after failing to achieve promotion, Wolves may be able to lure the youngster to the club with Premier League football.
Rowe’s contract is set to expire in June 2025 meaning a price-cut deal could be available if the club made an offer.
Fabio Carvalho

Wolves were linked with the Liverpool winger back in January. However, the Reds opted to send Fabio Carvalho to Championship side Hull City.
In the second tier, the Portuguese winger really came to life and netted nine times as well as collected two assists in 20 matches.
The 21-year-old is now back at Liverpool which could lead to a potential opening for Wolves. If Arne Slot does not see a future for Fabio Carvalho, O’Neil may be able to get him on a cheaper deal.
If not, Liverpool may be looking to loan him to a Premier League side to continue the next stage of his development.
Fabio Carvalho could be a perfect short-term solution to replace Neto if other options are unavailable.
Johan Bakayoko

The dream option. If Wolves’ owners Fosun are serious about the club being able to compete in the top half of the Premier League once more, the signing of Johan Bakayoko would send a statement.
The 21-year-old PSV winger collected 14 goals and 14 assists for the Dutch side last season as they secured the Dutch title.
It is believed that £30 million could be enough to bring the future star to the Premier League with Man United recently expressing interest.
With the money Wolves are bringing in for Neto, the club would certainly be able to meet this asking price. The big issue would be convincing Bakayoko to join O’Neil’s side.
However, considering Wolves have managed to convince the likes of Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves to join when the club were in the Championship, if Fosun showed ambition, this could be done.
