Nelson Semedo officially confirmed his exit from Wolves today, finally putting an end to the speculation surrounding him.
It was widely expected that Nelson Semedo would say he wasn’t staying, with a number of things to suggest he was ready to move on.
Semedo had filmed a goodbye video weeks ago, which he uploaded today to inform fans of his decision.
A removal van was also pictured at his residence towards the end of last season.
And most recently, Semedo was training alone in Portugal after becoming a free agent, while the Wolves players were at their training camp.
Semedo departs Wolves after five seasons at the club.
And the key question now is, which team he will join next – and Fabrizio Romano has dropped a brief update after the player’s announcement today.
Nelson Semedo still deciding next club after finally confirming Wolves exit

Some Wolves fans have been frustrated about the nature of Semedo’s exit.
For a lot of people, a decision should have been made a lot sooner, to give Wolves more time to find a replacement.
A four-year contract offer was on the table for Semedo and Wolves were seemingly holding out for as long as possible for him to sign it.
In the end though he decided to leave, and now it’s all about who’ll snap him up on a free transfer.
Fabrizio Romano has given a brief update on the player after his announcement, saying on X that Turkish teams have been showing interest, but that he is still deciding.
He said: “Nelson Semedo leaves Wolves as free agent and he’s assessing options for his future.
“Turkish clubs approached his camp but he wants to take some time to decide.”
Of course, it was previously claimed that Besiktas are keen on Semedo, but seemingly they aren’t the only Super Lig side interested.
In the last moments, Romano has reported Semedo is now set to join Fenerbahce.
Semedo will be a huge miss for Wolves
So word has finally arrived from Semedo – and it is the decision we all expected.
Undoubtedly, the optics of the situation have not been good, and one can understand fans’ frustrations about him only just communicating his decision now, with three weeks to go until the new season.
Nelson Semedo for Wolves (2020-2025) |
Appearances – 182 |
Goals – 3 |
Assists – 11 |
Irrespective of that though, Semedo is going to be missed by Wolves.
Although capable of the odd positional blunder, Semedo is by and large a very reliable performer and also demonstrated leadership qualities in 2025 after assuming the captaincy from Mario Lemina.
He was a great servant, and it will now be very interesting to see how he gets on at Fenerbahce.
Wolves, meanwhile, must step up the search for his replacement.
