Fabrizio Romano says more than two PL clubs are keen on Bamba Dieng, after Wolves were linked recently

Bamba Dieng will leave Marseille ‘soon’, with the player having recently been linked with a move to Wolves.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the striker is set to depart the French club having fallen out of favour under new manager Igor Tudor.

Dieng barely featured in pre-season, and he was nowhere to be seen last weekend as Marseille beat Reims 4-1 in the first Ligue 1 game of 2022/23.

Supposedly, more than two Premier League clubs are keen to sign Dieng this summer.

And Romano says that Marseille are looking for a fee of €15 million (£12.6 million).

The update comes after 90min claimed Wolves were one of several teams to be interested in the Senegal international.

Dieng has scored nine goals for Marseille’s first-team since making his debut for the club back in February 2021.

The youngster grabbed seven in Ligue 1 last term, and a further two in cup competitions.

Marseille have just completed a deal for former Premier League star Alexis Sanchez, and it’s possible the Chilean’s arrival is the catalyst for Dieng’s imminent exit.

The star can play on the left and through the middle, just like Dieng.

It remains to be seen if Wolves will go in with a bid for the 22-year-old.

After signing Goncalo Guedes, Wanderers are expected to move for another centre-forward.

Ajorque or Batshuayi would be better options for Wolves than Dieng

Wolves could be well be in for Dieng.

He fits the club’s transfer policy of being a young player with high potential resale value.

But arguably there are better options out there for Wolves.

Ludovic Ajorque is a genuine out-and-out number nine who could potentially be a real hit in the Premier League.

He’s much more experienced that Dieng and is more potent. The 6ft 6in star is a huge threat in the air, but he is also surprisingly impressive on the technical side.

It would be great to see Wolves move for him, or Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi, who has Premier League experience.

Dieng feels like a player too similar to what Wolves already have.
