Wolverhampton Wanderers’ deal to offload Rafa Mir to Atletico Madrid is ‘not progressing’.
The Spanish striker has supposedly headed back to Molineux to sort out his future.
Speaking about the player recently, Bruno Lage said (Express & Star): “The information I have is that he is coming to us.
“It’s the same situation like Patrick (Cutrone), I need to talk to the player. I need to feel if he has the ambition and motivation to play for us and belong to our pack.
“To wear our jersey. If he feels that, it’s welcome, if not we need to find a solution for him and also for us.”
Fabrizio Romano has today provided an update on the situation, and it may potentially indicate Mir will be staying at Molineux.
He said: “Atletico Madrid are interested in Matheus Cunha as main target. Talks ongoing to sign the Brazilian striker from Hertha Berlin – there’s no agreement for Dusan Vlahovic
“Fiorentina want to keep Vlahovic and Rafa Mir deal between Atléti and Wolves is not progressing.”
Frustration for Wolves
If it is to be believed that Wolves need to sell in order to raise funds to put towards other transfer deals, then this is a frustrating update about Mir.
He could yet still be sold, but Wolves need to be doing things quickly now that the season has started.
There is money to be made on Mir following his fantastic form last term for Huesca.
If the plan is indeed to offload him, then it needs to be done as soon as possible.
It’s been reported previously that a number of Spanish teams are keen. Hopefully, another one can come in to swoop for Mir.
