Fabrizio Romano now confirms Wolves’ interest in Champions League midfielder who once made history

Vitor Pereira is already looking to bolster his squad ahead of the summer transfer window, and signing a midfielder for Wolves is on his agenda.

Wolves lost 4-2 against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, with their defensive frailties and midfield weakness being exploited by the Eagles.

Jorgen Strand Larsen did beat one Raul Jimenez record, but aside from that, the performance only highlighted the need to fix the above issues.

Ahead of Matheus Cunha joining Manchester United, Wolves have already been linked with several attacking midfielders to replace him, including Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott.

But the Wanderers also want to sign someone for their deep-lying role, perhaps to challenge Andre and Joao Gomes, with one fresh target emerging.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Wolves’ interest in Tochi Chukwuani

In recent times, Wolves have shown an interest in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea, who could leave Stamford Bridge in the summer after a nightmare spell.

Hull City’s Gustavo Puerta has also caught Wolves’ eye, and he isn’t the only South American on their radar, with Vitor Pereira looking at Argentinian starlet Alvaro Montoro.

Now, a post from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano indicates the Old Gold could shop in the European market for a midfield powerhouse this summer.

Romano states that Hoffenheim, Wolves and French clubs are all tracking the situation of Sturm Graz talent Tochi Chukwuani.

The Danish under-21 international has made seven appearances in the Champions League this term and is on the verge of winning the Austrian Bundesliga.

Chukwuani started his professional career at Nordsjælland, and in July 2020, he made history by becoming the club’s youngest-ever scorer against Midtjylland at the age of 17.

That record was then broken in the following campaign by teammate Andreas Schjelderup, who was aged just 16 years and 284 days.

Chukwuani looks a promising talent

Wolves have experienced success shopping abroad for talent. In January, they captured Emmanuel Agbadou from French side Stade Reims.

Meanwhile, duo Andre and Gomes were signed from Brazil, with striker Strand Larsen joining from La Liga.

All-action midfield star Chukwuani could be another gem unearthed from a foreign league, this time from Austria.

The 22-year-old has made 35 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring three times, and looks like a promising talent who could add serious physicality to their engine room.

Standing at 6ft1, Chukwuani also boasts the height Wolves crave, ensuring they’re more likely to win the midfield battle with him in the side.
