Fabrizio Romano delivers significant update on Axel Disasi as Wolves continue Kevin Danso transfer pursuit

Wolves are racing against time to get new players in before the transfer deadline – and one update today on an alternative to Kevin Danso has potential significance for the club.

Wolves have only signed Emmanuel Agbadou so far this month.

That was a few weeks ago and fans have been stunned by Wolves’ lack of activity since.

The main position on the agenda right now for Wolves is another new centre-back. There is also a desire to land a defensive midfielder, because Mario Lemina wants out.

Two new forwards may also arrive before Monday night’s deadline.

But a new centre-back is paramount, and Kevin Danso appears to be the player Wolves are focusing on.

But there are alternatives, although it looks like one player is well and truly off the table now for Wanderers.

Axel Disasi does not want Wolves transfer – he ‘only wants’ Aston Villa

Disasi is a player who’s been on Wolves’ radar, with the Chelsea man struggling for minutes this season.

Disasi is, on paper, a decent option for Wolves due to his ability to play at centre-back and right-back, making him potential good for the right of the back three.

But this particular transfer possibility has always been something of an outside bet.

Because Disasi has agreed personal terms with Villa days ago. And it was claimed yesterday Disasi was ‘insisting’ on Villa. Now, it really does look like his heart his set on a move to Villa Park, with Fabrizio Romano dropping a definitive update.

He reported earlier today: “Aston Villa have been in touch with Chelsea yesterday and will be again today for both João Félix and Axel Disasi.

“Disasi only wants Villa, Félix deal depends on what Chelsea decide to do.”

Wolves have to get Danso in now

From this information it seems like there is now pretty much no chance that Disasi joins Wolves this month.

He seemingly wasn’t Wolves’ main choice, but the development now makes this Danso deal extremely important.

He appears to be the one Wolves are making the biggest push for, and if he doesn’t end up joining them then fans are not going to be happy.

There is also some interest from Wolves in Clement Akpa. But him aside, there haven’t really been any other links to new central defenders which is concerning.

Wolves are thought to have agreed personal terms with Danso, but there still hasn’t been any agreement with Lens for the proposed transfer of the player.
