Fabrizio Romano delivers fresh Ladislav Krejci transfer update after Wolves target played for Girona

Wolves fans are hoping to see the club make some big moves in the transfer window this coming week – and Fabrizio Romano has now given an update on Ladislav Krejci.

Wolves have kicked off the new Premier League campaign with two defeats.

Fans have not been overly surprised by those losses, with Vitor Pereira unfortunately heading into the new season underprepared.

The Wolves manager has lost game-changing players such as Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia, and only a few new faces have come in so far.

It’s hoped that Fer Lopez, Jhon Arias, David Moller Wolfe and Jackson Tchatchoua will all be successful signings, but none of them are Premier League-proven and Wolves have taken gambles on all.

And currently, Wolves are strongly linked with another player from overseas in Ladislav Krejci.

Earlier this morning, Fabrizio Romano dropped an update on the Czech defender.

There are still a few signings Wolves really need to make in the coming days.

A new forward to compete with and cover Jorgen Strand Larsen would be most ideal.

And Pereira has wanted a new midfielder too, after Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore both departed on loan earlier this summer.

But a new left-sided defender has also been on the agenda, and Wolves have been looking at Krejci.

It was suggested a few days ago that Krejci was having doubts about moving to Wolves and had asked for some days to make a decision.

Then, last night, Krejci featured for Girona in their 5-0 defeat to Villarreal, suggesting nothing was particularly close.

But Fabrizio Romano has reported this morning that Krejci is indeed expected to join Wolves, and should complete the move this week.

He said: “Ladislav Krejci, expected to become new Wolves player from Girona this week for fee over €30m. Verbal agreement in place between all parties and formal steps to follow soon.”

Krejci must make instant impact for Wolves

So it sounds as though, despite that previous update of Krejci having doubts, he is now set to sign.

Hopefully, those doubts were not major and Wolves will be getting themselves a player who is all-in, and ready for a big challenge. Because this season is already looking like it could be just that.

Wolves are committing quite a lot of money on Krejci, and he therefore needs to hit the ground running when he comes in.

One would imagine, given the money being spent here, that he will go straight into the backline.

With Toti Gomes being captain, and a favourite of the manager, he may well keep his place in the team.

And we could see Emmanuel Agbadou shift over to the right in place of Matt Doherty.
