Fabio Silva’s next club becomes more ‘clear’ as Wolves set to receive approach from European giants

Wolves are unable to get off the transfer merry-go-round regarding Fabio Silva’s future.

The summer transfer window is already presenting Wolves with several certainties.

Matheus Cunha is set to join Manchester United after making it clear that he wanted to leave Molineux earlier in the season.

Joining Cunha out of the door is Silva, who is generating significant transfer interest following an impressive 2024/25 campaign on loan at Las Palmas.

Atletico Madrid back in the frame for Fabio Silva

Despite contributing to 13 goals in La Liga this season, Silva suffered relegation with Las Palmas.

The Wolves loanee stood out among a struggling squad, which has landed the striker in a favourable position with regard to his future.

It’s understood that Eintracht Frankfurt are the most eager to sign Silva on a permanent deal in the summer, but the Bundesliga side won’t have a free run at the 22-year-old.

Earlier in the season, Diego Simeone waxed lyrical about Silva, bolstering Atletico Madrid’s claims to signing the forward, with a fresh update now provided by Spanish outlet AS

In a report titled, ‘Fabio Silva, open option’, AS noted Atletico’s revived interest in Silva due to Angel Correa’s notable exit.

AS claim that though many clubs in Spain want to sign the Portuguese forward, only a handful can afford him and for that reason, Atletico stand out.

Added to the financial side of the striker’s pending transfer, AS state that ‘the fit is clear’ between Silva and Atletico, particularly due to Correa’s exit.

Given that Simeone has already expressed his admiration for the 22-year-old and that a forward is leaving the Metropolitano this summer, Atletico look to be a strong possibility for Silva.

Silva could be in the Champions League next season

At the start of the season, it would be baffling to consider that Silva could be playing in the Champions League in 2024/25.

Silva’s dreary loan spell at Rangers saw his future at Wolves unclear at the start of the campaign, but the Old Gold kept him on their books and will have no regrets for doing so.

The forward is now in line to seal a higher-value move away than first anticipated, with several Champions League clubs placing him on their radar.

It’s remarkable that Cunha will not be playing in the Champions League next season, if he joins Manchester United, but Silva might be.

Football certainly works in mysterious ways.
