Fabio Silva twist after Borussia Dortmund approach as ‘real obstacle’ claim made

Fabio Silva remains on the books at Wolves, but could soon finally seal his permanent departure.

The striker has been back with the squad recently, after returning from a successful loan spell with Las Palmas.

Fabio Silva scored 10 goals for the Spanish outfit last term, and speculation was bound to be rife about his future this summer.

It was claimed recently that Wolves and Silva are both adamant that he would leave permanently this summer.

Jorge Mendes is said to be facilitating Silva’s exit from Wolves, and the player has not been short of interest.

It was recently stated that Borussia Dortmund had presented a contract offer to Silva.

Wolves and Dortmund have been discussing a transfer fee of £17 million for Silva, with Wolves hoping to push that beyond £20 million.

But they are not the club he really wants to join.

It has been claimed that the situation with Silva could now become complicated.

That’s because Silva actually wants to join AS Roma over in Italy, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

But frustratingly for him, Dortmund are currently offering Wolves more money.

Silva is said to have spoken ‘several times’ to Gian Pero Gasperini, who is really pushing to sign the Portuguese.

Dortmund are offering more to both Wolves and the player, but Silva is said to be doing everything he can to secure a move to Roma.

The German side are described as a ‘real obstacle’ for Roma right now, but a strong enough push from Silva may force Wolves into business with them.

Silva stance could force Wolves to accept less

This is an interesting update about Silva, and one that may not help Wolves.

Dortmund are offering more money, but the player wants Roma.

There was a similar situation to this a few years ago when Wolves were signing Joao Gomes from Flamengo.

Lyon actually offered more money than Wolves for the midfielder.

But in the end, Gomes’ stance ensured that Wolves won the race, with Flamengo resigned to accepting a slightly lower fee than the French side.

Player power often tends to win out, so Silva’s desire to go to Roma could be key here. With Wolves desperate to finally offload him permanently, there may be a willingness to sell to Roma.
