Europa League club now readying ‘surprise’ move for Wolves midfielder Mario Lemina

Wolves midfielder Mario Lemina could leave Molineux this month amid transfer speculation.

Not many would have predicted the possibility that Lemina could leave Wolves in the January transfer window.

The Gabon international started the season as a crucial member of Gary O’Neil’s squad, being club captain and an adored figure at Molineux.

Lemina’s Wolves future is in jeopardy following the midfielder’s bust-up at the London Stadium back in December, paving the way to a potential exit.

Wolves transfer news: Galatasaray want to sign Mario Lemina

It’s been reported that Vitor Pereira’s former club Al-Shabab are interested in Lemina, who has played only 31 minutes since the new Wolves manager’s arrival.

The 31-year-old’s future is up in the air, with another spanner now thrown in the works, as another club have shown transfer interest.

That’s according to reports from Turkey, who claim that the Wolves star is wanted by Galatasaray as part of a ‘surprise’ January transfer.

Fanatik report that Lemina’s former club are ‘on the radar’ of the midfielder and are ‘trying’ to sign the Gabonese talent for a ‘reasonable transfer fee’ this winter.

Given that Lemina’s contract at Molineux expires in 2025, a transfer would be a wise idea this month, considering that Wolves could profit from a move.

Galatasaray are reported to be on the prowl for a new midfielder, with Lemina identified as a possible fit following his 2019/20 loan from Southampton.

Lemina’s future is a ‘big problem’ says Vitor Pereira

It’s been a brutal change of outlook at Wolves for Lemina, who was stripped of captaincy before Pereira’s arrival.

The manager admitted prior to Wolves’ FA Cup win over Bristol City that he is growing fearful of the ‘big problem’ Lemina’s uncertain future is causing.

“Mario is in a position that now he’s sick, I need to understand really if he wants to stay, or if he wants to go because when you are in the middle of a bridge, it’s a big problem,” Pereira told the media.

“I have dealt with this kind of situation a lot of times, and we need to decide and he needs to decide. The club needs to decide if he stays here because he has the quality to help the team but we must wait to understand what he will do.”

The remainder of the January transfer window will be telling of Lemina’s future at Wolves, with a solution needed promptly one way or another.
