Wolves potentially now have a chance to land a midfielder they’ve frequently been linked with over the years, after he became a free agent.
With just two new signings at the club so far this summer, fans are now a little nervous for the season ahead.
People anticipated more signings by now, but most of the activity has related to departures at Molineux.
Wolves rejigged their recruitment division earlier this summer, and now that division has its work cut out to ensure Vitor Pereira has a competitive squad going into 2025/26.
We know that Wolves shelling out big fees like they did for Matheus Cunha and Matheus Nunes is rather a thing of the past now.
Wolves much prefer to spend in the £10-20 million range, having had success with the likes of Emmanuel Agbadou and Marshall Munetsi and, previously, Joao Gomes.
But Wolves are always on the lookout for freebies and loan deals – and one player Wolves have long admired is now available.
Josh Brownhill leaves Burnley giving Wolves potential chance of free transfer

Yesterday, midfielder Josh Brownhill announced that he was leaving Burnley after five-and-a-half years with the club.
Brownhill was Burnley’s captain, so his departure will sting for the Premier League new boys. Especially after he scored 18 goals from midfield in 2024/25.
There will now be clamour over Brownhill given his status as a free agent, his leadership qualities and ability to score goals from midfield.
Wolves have not yet been mentioned in light of yesterday’s announcement, but he is a player we know the club have long admired.
Gary O’Neil was a big admirer of Brownhill, and it was also suggested Wolves were considering Brownhill in January of this year.

Wolves may finally swoop for Brownhill
It is well worth keeping an eye on Brownhill now that he is a free agent.
We know that Wolves are in the market for a new midfielder after sending both Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore out on loan.

Brownhill on a free could be something worth exploring, although many other clubs will likely have the same idea.
Goalscoring midfielders are always very welcome to have in squads, and Brownhill has shown he can chip in from deep.
He is also a leader, and we know how much emphasis Wolves put on signing players who are good for the group these days.
