Emmanuel Agbadou can help Wolves beat Everton to target who once cost £72m

Wolves are set to be in the market for new attackers this summer – and Emmanuel Agbadou might just help the club to sign one target ahead of Everton.

Wolves are facing the possibility of losing at least two or three forwards this summer.

Matheus Cunha is a target for Manchester United, and the expectation is that he will go.

Pablo Sarabia is likely to leave Wolves when his contract expires, and there have also been doubts about the long-term futures of Hwang Hee-chan and Goncalo Guedes.

So the top end of the pitch will surely be a focus for Vitor Pereira and the Wolves recruitment team.

And it’s very possible Emmanuel Agbadou might be able to serve as a trump card for Wanderers over one player on their radar.

It’s been claimed that Wolves are showing interest in Nicolas Pepe ahead of the summer transfer window. But there is also competition in the form of Everton.

It’s a suggestion that has come fairly out of the blue, with Pepe not really the profile of player Wolves tend to go for these days.

Wanderers mainly target younger players with high ceilings, with the potential to sell for a big profit two to three years down the line.

Pepe is now 29, and has already had one failed stint in English football with Arsenal.

But perhaps Wolves are wanting to mix things up a bit – and there is a chance that Pepe may end up signing for Wanderers this summer because of Agbadou.

Agbadou is an international teammate of Pepe, with the pair both playing for the Ivory Coast. So far, they have shared the pitch together three times.

We already know that Agbadou has the capacity to help convince players he knows to sign for Wolves.

When Wolves landed Marshall Munetsi, the club said via their official website that the Zimbabwe international had consulted Agbadou before coming. The pair had been teammates together at Reims.

Pepe would be a major gamble by Wolves

So Pepe may wind up at Wolves this summer with a little help from Agbadou.

And it would be a big gamble by the club if they did sign him.

Pepe was criticised a lot the last time he was on English shores, with the perception being that he didn’t do enough for Arsenal after costing £72 million (BBC Sport).

He left with a record of 27 goals and 21 assists in 112 games.

There is the notion of ‘unfinished business’ with Pepe, and perhaps Wolves could maybe try to sign him on loan to make it less risky, although there’s no suggestion Villarreal would be open to that.
