Yesterday, Shrewsbury manager Matt Taylor actually talked about the potential signing of Fraser, admitting he was interested in the exciting Wolves youngster.

He said (quoted by Shropshire Star): “He is a player that of course, we have interest in because he is a good footballer. Micky had him in at Cheltenham when he was there.

“He trained there for a week, and he is a player that Micky knows really well and I have been to watch him a couple of times. We were given permission by Wolves to have him here today with his mum.

“He has come in, I met him and had a good conversation with him, it was the first time I had spoken to him. We at this football club do everything correctly. We followed protocols and we got permission to speak to him.

“Where it goes from here I know good players have other clubs that are interested in them. He is a player that interests me and he is a player that could help our group.”

Taylor also stated that they had actually enquired about signing Fraser on loan in the summer.

This morning, journalist Darren Witcoop has reported the player is now set to sign for the League One side, and that they beat off competition from several other clubs.

A great opportunity for Fraser

It’s great news that Fraser will be heading out on loan for the second half of the season.

The ‘powerful and direct’ youngster has regularly impressed at U21 level and he can now further his development playing in the Football League.

Senior football will help Fraser to improve and perhaps it will shape him to potentially become a first-team option at Molineux next season.

There are high hopes for Fraser, who was bigged up by U21s boss James Collins a couple of months ago for going from a fairly average young player to a top prospect. If he can get some good minutes at Croud Meadow and score a few goals then would be absolutely ideal for the youngster.
