Wolves have been linked with a shock move for Christian Benteke.
According to The Sun, the Crystal Palace star has emerged as a target for Wanderers after the club loaned out Fabio Silva to Anderlecht.
The player is now into the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park.
Palace are said to be open to selling for the right offer. Currently though, there is no word on how much they would want for him.
Benteke, 31, has been fairly maligned during his time at Palace.
The star joined the club back in 2016 as he sought a clean break from his struggles at Liverpool.
He had a great first season, but he has struggled to replicate his form since.
His goal return of 37 goals in 177 games is not something to shout home about.
But one impressive trait Benteke does have is his ability to win headers.
The Belgium international has always be strong in the air and a few years ago, Eden Hazard chose him for that particular ability when he was building his ultimate teammate.
He said (via Birmingham Mail): “Benteke, a crazy thing! He jumps, pah, goal!”
Patrick Vieira also suggested last year that Benteke was one of the best players in the air in the Premier League.
Bringing in a striker with aerial prowess was something Bruno Lage suggested earlier this year.
Benteke is aerially excellent, but lacks killer instinct Wolves desperately need
Lage would like to sign a striker who can win those aerial duels, which Benteke would likely have great success with.
But unfortunately, he has shown in recent times that he just doesn’t have that ruthlessness any more.
He was lethal when he first came to the Premier League with Aston Villa.
But he is a player that has seemed to lack confidence for a while now.
His aerial prowess may not be in question, but Wolves really need more that just that.
