Newcastle have ramped up their interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen, with Eddie Howe doing something that might make Wolves fans nervous.
Jorgen Strand Larsen’s future has been thrown into doubt as of late, with Newcastle reportedly interested in his services as they attempt to sort out their striker debacle.

It was reported early on Tuesday by David Ornstein that Strand Larsen is keen on a Newcastle move, and now Eddie Howe has apparently done something that suggests these are more than just rumours.
Eddie Howe has contacted Jorgen Strand Larsen’s former coach for a character reference
The English manager has remained relatively tight-lipped about ongoing negotiations.
But he may have dropped a hint on where his mind is at by contacting the Norwegian’s former coach, as Alex Crook of talkSPORT reports: “Toon boss Eddie Howe has spoken to at least one of the Norwegian’s former coaches to get a character reference on the 25-year-old.”

Getting a character reference for Strand Larsen suggests Howe believes this move is a possibility.
From the player’s perspective, the chance to play Champions League football is always going to make you think twice, but Strand Larsen has made it clear that he won’t agitate for a move, so the ball appears to be in Wolves’ court.
Wolves won’t sell Jorgen Strand Larsen barring a ‘huge’ offer from Newcastle
Strand Larsen is not for sale, unless… This is the club’s apparent stance.
‘Not for sale’ is usually a pretty concrete statement, but when it’s followed by ‘unless’, it really means nothing.
Crook writes: “Newcastle have run background checks on Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, but it would take a mega offer to prise him away from Molineux.”

He continues: “Wolves have no desire to sell Strand Larsen, who is now seen as their main source of goals following Matheus Cunha’s departure to Manchester United.”
That is absolutely the case. Without Strand Larsen, Wolves will really struggle to score enough goals to win games.
Any proposal from Newcastle should be categorically rejected, as what good is £65 million if Wolves are competing in the Championship next season.
