Dutch journalist suspects Wolves’ Hugo Bueno is involved in a calculated Robin van Persie transfer plan

Wolves defender Hugo Bueno is set to return to Molineux in the summer following a successful loan spell at Feyenoord.

Some were shocked that Bueno left Wolves on loan in the summer, as Gary O’Neil sanctioned the Spaniard’s exit.

Hindsight has only shown that O’Neil’s decision was the right one, as Bueno has gone from strength to strength at Feyenoord

Now that Vitor Pereira is in charge, the situation surrounding the left-back’s future is even more fascinating, particularly as competition is heating up back in the West Midlands.

Robin van Persie has a plan to extend Hugo Bueno’s stay at Feyenoord

Bueno has been backed to battle it out with Rodrigo Gomes once he returns to Wolves, but a fresh transfer update reveals an alternative narrative.

Amid speculation that Rayan Ait-Nouri could leave Wolves in the summer, it’s been reported that the Algerian could, in fact, stay.

Wolves want to offer Ait-Nouri a new contract, which will impact Bueno’s future, with another element added, as in the Netherlands, the Spaniard is involved in a transfer masterplan.

It’s understood that Robin van Persie wants to keep Bueno at Feyenoord, which was a subject touched upon by Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen on the De Telegraaf podcast, Kick-off.

Driessen shared his belief that Van Persie has snubbed fellow full-back Quilindschy Hartman in favour of starting Bueno to convince the Wolves loanee to explore the option of a return next season.

“Maybe it’s to convince Bueno to stay,” Driessen said regarding Hartman’s recent lack of game time.

“They can rent him [Bueno] for another year if necessary. If he only sits on the bench, it won’t work.”

The renowned Dutch journalist shed light on the plan he believes Van Persie is crafting, as the Premier League icon appears to be desperate for Feyenoord to loan Bueno for another season.

Uncertain future for Bueno at Wolves

From a Wolves point of view, it’s difficult to work out what the best outcome for Bueno would be at this moment in his career.

As Bueno has proven himself at Champions League level over this campaign, the Spaniard’s transfer value has surely increased, something that will benefit Wolves long-term.

Sending the defender back on loan could see his value rise even more and allow him to secure regular football, but there are also benefits to keeping Bueno at Molineux.

Pereira has yet to assess the player for himself, giving the Wolves manager a motive to snub Van Persie’s plan to keep the fullback for another year.

An external factor will likely be what happens to Ait-Nouri over the summer transfer window, as if the Algerian is to depart, one would assume that Bueno would stay put.
