Wolves are set to sign Diego Costa this week following news of Sasa Kalajdzic suffering an ACL injury.
Wanderers are moving for the 33-year-old, who has been a free agent since January.
Kalajdzic lasted just one half of his debut against Southampton on Saturday, having to be withdraw after feeling pain in his knee after an awkward landing.
Kaladjzic did actually play on briefly.
But yesterday Wolves delivered the news fans had been dreading, with the star now set to spend months on the sidelines.
It is the cruelest of blows for Kalajdzic, who joined the club just days earlier from Stuttgart.
Wolves have not wasted any time addressing the problem, with David Ornstein reporting last night that Wolves are flying Costa out on Tuesday.
He will have a medical and, all being well, he will sign a short-term deal with the club.
It is a stunning move by Wolves, with Costa having once lit up the Premier League with Chelsea.
Of course, he is no longer the same player, but he is undoubtedly a player with a major profile.
And Costa appeared to validate the claims of an imminent move to Molineux last night, as he posted to his Instagram Story.
The star showed himself to be in the gym building his fitness. He also posted a pictured of himself either mid or post-workout.
Diego Costa is a risk worth taking for Wolves, as star teases move on Instagram
It is extremely exciting to see Wolves making a move for Costa.
Obviously, he is older now and has not been prolific for a good few years.
But Wolves cannot sit back and do nothing after the injury to Kalajdzic. Raul Jimenez has struggled in recent times, and there needs to be competition for the Mexican.
Costa will probably come in on high wages, but he is a risk worth taking given the circumstances.
He will come in and least be up for a fight.
Potentially, he will bring that ruthlessness that this Wolves team has lacked for so long.
