Angel Gomes is to return to Marseille this summer after his loan spell with Wolves.
The midfielder joined the club on loan in the mid-season window, and it was a move that raised eyebrows.
Should any of these NOT be on this list? And are there any who aren’t there who SHOULD be on? 🤔
The Athletic have claimed Wolves would like these nine players to stay after relegation…
He came in with a fairly good reputation, and there was actually some surprise that Wolves had managed to get a player like him in given their position.
And there was even more surprise that Wolves had negotiated an option to buy the player this summer.
But Wolves have now been relegated, which automatically casts doubt on many of the players in that squad.
And it seems Angel Gomes will not be sticking around at Molineux.
Angel Gomes to leave Wolves after poor loan spell

As reported by L’Equipe, Gomes is now ‘certain’ to head back to Marseille following Wolves’ relegation.
The club’s option to buy is thought to be worth around £6 million, but that will not be triggered.
Had Wolves stayed up, L’Equipe say that Gomes would have turned his move permanent. It’s not clear whether that would have actually been automatic.
But there was never any real danger of Wolves staying up given how poor the team have been this season.
So this news about Gomes comes as no real surprise – and quite a few fans are unlikely to be too upset.
Because across his 10 appearances for the club, the Englishman has had very little impact.
His standout moment came against Brentford, when he came off the bench at half-time and helped his side battle back to take a point. Thierry Henry praised Gomes, saying he changed the game.
But aside from that, he’s been poor – and in recent games he has not looked comfortable in a more advanced role.
Andy Thompson and Lee Naylor suggested Gomes is a luxury player who is not necessarily the right fit for every situation.

Naylor called him ‘lightweight’, insisting he ‘gets pushed around quite a bit’.
Gomes talked up life at Wolves recently, but seemingly he either does not want to stick around to play in the Championship, or Wolves’ relegation automatically means he’s heading back to France.
Either way, it’s yet another move by Wolves that has not worked out and further questions will be asked of the recruitment team.
