Transfer deadline day: Bournemouth showing interest in Wolves star Morgan Gibbs-White

Bournemouth are apparently keen to sign Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

That was the claim made last night by talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.

Gibbs-White saw a lot of action in pre-season for Wolves, as manager Bruno Lage cast his eye over his new players ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Arguably, he was one of Wolves’ best performers in the summer.

His good season followed on from a decent end to the 2020/21 season.

He did struggle for opportunities after returning to the club in January after his loan to Swansea City was cut short.

Nuno Espirito Santo often overlooked him, but gave him chances in the final few weeks with the club’s Premier League safety secured.

Wolves did not finish the season well, but he personally did very well.

Now Gibbs-White is being linked with a move to the Championship, which is somewhat surprising.

It comes amid loan links to Renato Sanches, whose potential incoming would likely limit Gibbs-White’s playing time.

It remains to be seen what happens today, but Gibbs-White going there is certainly something not many would have seen coming.

Gibbs-White leaving would be a surprise

Gibbs-White moving on deadline day would be a real surprise.

That said, if Renato Sanches does come in, there will be few Wolves fans complaining.

Gibbs-White, of course, can also operate as a winger. But Lage now has lots of wide options, with new signing Hwang Hee-chan also able to feature in such a role.

Gibbs-White has indeed looked good in pre-season, but Sanches looked a man reborn last term. He also really impressed at the Euros.

The next hours are going to be very interesting indeed.
