Joao Gomes continues to be the subject of speculation, and now top journalist David Ornstein has given Wolves fans an update amid interest from Manchester United.
Over the past couple of weeks or so, talk about Joao Gomes’ future has really picked up.
The Brazilian is obviously one of Wolves’ best players, so naturally, there would be talk about interest from other clubs.
How much is Joao Gomes worth in today’s market?
Initially, it was reported that Manchester United were considering a summer move for Gomes.
But in recent days, publications have reported that the Red Devils could actually try and prise Gomes away from Wolves in the next window.
There was a very ominous update yesterday, with a top publication in Brazil claiming both Wolves and Man United were optimistic of closing a deal for Gomes by the turn of the year.
But now, David Ornstein has shared what he understands about Gomes and United.
Wolves playing down Man United interest in Gomes

It has not been a good season for Gomes.
Fans know that on his day, he is a top ball winner. But this term, the Brazilian has been levels below his usual high standards.
But he remains a hugely important player for the Old Gold, and any exit for him in January would surely sting.
Overseas publications have been suggesting an exit is more likely than not.
But last night, David Ornstein dropped an update that will be welcomed by a lot of fans. Discussing the future of Man United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, he said in a new video for NBC Sports: “There’ve been reports about Joao Gomes at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Sources I’ve spoken to around Molineux are sort of playing it down.
“They’re saying there’s no club-to-club talks at this point. And of course, if Wolves are staring at relegation come January, they might look to cash in on him then. As opposed to letting it go into the Championship when his value will decrease.”
Hope for Wolves over Joao Gomes

This is an interesting claim from Ornstein which rather goes against the grain of what has been suggested about Gomes in recent days.
It seems there may not be any talks just yet between Wolves and United over Gomes.
But of course, Ornstein does say that Wolves’ league position might still mean that Gomes ends up leaving in January. So fans may still want to brace for that possibility.
Rob Edwards addresses Joao Gomes transfer rumours
It would be a huge blow to lose him, and it would almost certainly communicate the message to fans that the club are preparing for Championship life.
Gomes would gain a huge amount of respect from Wolves fans if he did stay. So hopefully, knowing that he would likely still move in the summer, he won’t agitate to depart.
