David Ornstein now drops fresh Carlos Forbs update as Wolves seek deadline day additions

Wolves fans have already seen one new signing made today in Sam Johnstone – and the hope is that a few more will be coming in.

Wanderers landed Johnstone from Palace earlier today in a £10 million deal. This followed Bastien Meupiyou signing from Nantes on Thursday.

Fluminense midfielder Andre is set to sign today and is currently undergoing a medical.

But Wolves are thought to be trying to sign a winger, with Daniel Podence looking set to leave for Saudi. And of course, Pedro Neto has already departed.

Carlos Forbs is a player of interest, and David Ornstein has just dropped an update.

Wolves became linked with Forbs as Neto was being sold to Chelsea a couple of weeks ago.

The youngster came from Manchester City’s academy, and has only been with Ajax for one year.

Forbs has been on Wolves’ radar, and it appears the club are now ready to make a go of signing him before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

David Ornstein has just reported on X: “Wolves working to find agreement with Ajax to sign winger Carlos Forbs.

“Fresh proposal submitted to #Ajax this morning for 20yo Portugal youth int’l. #WWFC budget extremely limited so difficult move to complete but personal terms no issue.”

Interestingly Voetbal International have claimed in the last hour that Lyon are also keen to sign Forbs and that Ajax should reach an agreement with both the French club and Wolves. It will be up to the player to decide.

This update comes after Wolves were priced out of a move for Burnley winger Luca Koleosho. The Clarets reportedly wanted a staggering £40 million for the youngster.

Yoana Wissa was also a player of interest to Wolves, but that is not a move that is expected to happen.

Forbs signing would be exciting

Wolves could really do with a new winger.

Koleosho was a non-starter given what Burnley were demanding, so now Forbs appears to be the main target.

It sounds like £15,000-a-week gem Forbs could also be expensive against the budget Wolves are working with from what Ornstein has said.

But he is an exciting young player and this would be a signing that would go down well with a lot of Wolves fans.

Hopefully, Wolves can get the better of Lyon – it would not be the first time that has happened, with the club edging them out for the signing of Joao Gomes in the January 2023 window.
