Dave Edwards concerned about Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa

Dave Edwards believes Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa has really dropped off this season and is struggling for confidence.

Wanderers were put to the sword at the weekend, losing 6-0 to Brighton.

It was a shambolic display from Wolves, who made it absolutely easy for the Seagulls.

The Wolves players couldn’t string two passes together, while Brighton were absolutely fluid as anything and clinical in the final third.

Wolves gifted Brighton most of their goals though.

And one man who had a terrible day at the office was Sa.

The 30-year-old looked a bag of nerves every time he received the ball. He just looked unsure of who to pass to most of the time, and this was very evident on Brighton’s final goal by Deniz Undav.

Sa has come under the microscope in recent weeks especially. Fans are growing increasingly concerned about his form, and Edwards believes he is seriously lacking confidence.

He said in his latest Express & Star column: “But one to me that has been glaring for me in recent months has been Jose Sa. The goalkeeper was incredible in his first season at Molineux.

“This season he has really dropped off, his confidence is really low and he seems really panicky on the ball. He was at fault at the AMEX and it’s not the first time this season. Maybe it’s time for Dan Bentley to have a run? There’s nothing to lose this season.”

Jose Sa should now be replaced by Dan Bentley for Wolves

Edwards’ suggestion that Bentley should come in for Sa will be one that many Wolves fans share.

Sa did well against Crystal Palace after his mistake against Leicester City.

But his form generally hasn’t been very good in recent weeks and it feels as though Lopetegui now needs to make a change.

We know the manager is not afraid to drop players that are not performing.

Sa is certainly not performing right now, and him dropping to the bench might be something that actually helps him.

It feels like he needs to come out of the spotlight and reset.
