‘Crazy’… Wolves fans react to major transfer development over Fer Lopez

Wolves fans are expecting the club to sign some players now, after several confirmed outgoings – and Fer Lopez looks to be imminent at Molineux.

Wolves have sold Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri, and also lost Pablo Sarabia, Craig Dawson and Carlos Forbs.

Speculation continues to swirl over the future of Nelson Semedo, who has a four-year contract offer on the table from Wolves.

It seems Wolves are now very close to signing Fer Lopez.

It was claimed on Saturday that personal terms had already been agreed with Lopez, and that just an agreement was needed between Wolves and Celta Vigo.

Earlier tonight, it was claimed by journalist Matteo Moretto that Wolves and Celta have now reached an agreement over Lopez – and fans have been reacting to the fee.

Wolves fans react as Fer Lopez transfer agreement now reached

According to Moretto, Wolves and Celta Vigo have reached an agreement over Lopez to transfer to Molineux for around £21 million.

Lopez actually had a £17 million release clause in his contract. But interested clubs would have been required to pay that in one lump sum.

It’s thought Wolves will pay slightly more than the clause, to allow them to pay the money in installments. It is not currently clear how many installments there would be.

But it seems Lopez is now creeping closer to a move to Wolves.

But some Wolves fans are slightly surprised about the £21 million fee.

@Tom_Parker12: “Not a ton of data available with limited minutes last season, seems to have good creative ability and can get past players well. Will be a really interesting player to see develop. Sizeable fee but reading through Spanish twitter, seems to have potential. We welcome anyone!”

@GoldenPalaceWW: “Although shades of the over-priced Fabio Silva deal, Celta fans are mourning the loss of a star prospect. The closeness (similar physicality) to Larsen will hopefully bridge a transition that Fabio lacked. Ease him in, provide clarity and don’t expect the world too soon.”

@krittterrr: “Fee is higher than one would’ve hoped, seems an interesting prospect at least.”

@Gary_Poynton: “Glad our first signing in the new Mendes era is an overpay for a young client with hardly any experience.”

So Wolves appear to have everything in place to sign Lopez, and it is good to see someone coming in after mostly exit talk so far.

Certainly, if true, this is a lot of money for Wolves to be paying, with Lopez having not had much experience of first-team football.

There will be comparisons to the Fabio Silva deal five years ago, although this is not quite on the same scale.

But it looks like it’ll happen – and Fabrizio Romano has suggested a possible timeframe for this deal to complete.

He wrote on X on Sunday night: “Fer Lopez’s move to Wolves from Celta Vigo can be sealed already next week, with verbal agreement almost done.

“Celta are expected to receive over €20m as player has already agreed terms with Premier League side.”
