Club president confirms target will not join Wolves on deadline day amid relegation fear

Wolves have been handed their first transfer blow on deadline day as a club president has confirmed.

The Old Gold are in a good position to welcome at least two players on deadline day.

Nasser Djiga is on his way to England ahead of his proposed transfer to Wolves, with the Red Star Belgrade centre-back close to being confirmed as a new signing.

Wolves will pay for £10m for Djiga and the Midlands club aren’t done there, as Vitor Pereira’s midfield demands will finally be answered.

As well as Djiga, Wolves have reached an agreement with Marshall Munetsi, a former teammate of Emmanuel Agbadou at Stade Reims.

Wolves will not sign transfer target Volodymyr Brazhko on deadline day

Wolves are on the right track in the transfer window as the club hierarchy clearly understands the importance of recruiting sufficiently this window.

Premier League survival is on the line, emphasising the need to support Pereira properly before time runs out in the winter market.

The subject of relegation is a pressing one for Wolves and unfortunately, has ruled out one transfer target joining the Old Gold.

Wolves made contact with Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Volodymyr Brazhko over a winter transfer but, talks have since halted.

Dynamo Kyiv’s club president Ihor Surkis revealed the reason why the midfielder will not join Wolves this window.

As relayed by Zorya Londonsk, Surkis revealed that the Old Gold had bid a significant amount to sign Brazhko – €20m spread over four years.

Surkis said that due to the Ukrainian club’s desire to play in the Champions League next season, letting a player like Brazhko leave would be detrimental to such goals.

Having his Premier League dream denied, Surkis relayed that the Wolves target understands the reason and remains calm about the decision, not ruling out a future move for the 23-year-old.

The club president then explained that another element of doubt over the transfer was Wolves’ position in the Premier League table.

“Dynamo respects Wolverhampton, but we and the player understand that next season the club may end up in the Championship,” he said.

Future transfer for Brazhko not ruled out

While it’s a blow for Wolves, who have had their desire to sign the midfielder diminished, it doesn’t mean that Brazhko won’t one day call Molineux home.

After revealing the concerns about relegation from the Premier League, Surkis admitted that a transfer in the future could still happen.

“If desired, we will still have time and opportunity to return to this conversation when both clubs have fulfilled their tournament goals.”

For now, Brazhko is focused on achieving his goals with Dynamo Kyiv, with Wolves needing to ensure Premier League survival to keep their hopes of signing the 23-year-old alive in the summer.
