Braga confirm that Wolves have signed Rodrigo Gomes

In a ceremony, Braga club president Antonio Salvador confirmed that Gomes has been sold to Wolves.

As relayed by journalist Sebastiao Sousa Pinto, Salvador shared that Gomes’ future had been ‘resolved’, with Wolves being his next destination.

“I can say that Rodrigo Gomes will be made official soon, within a few hours. And, therefore, it is an asset that we can say that, at this moment, has been resolved. At Wolverhampton.”

It’s an exciting time for Wolves who ensured that the deal was completed quickly, with plenty of work for O’Neil still to do ahead of 2024/25.

Gomes signing shows a statement of intent from Wolves

Described as a player with ‘blistering pace’ by Football Talent Scout, Gomes is a strong opening capture for Wolves this summer.

The winger, also deployable at right-wing-back, thrived on loan at Estoril, seeing him eyed by the Old Gold amid interest from Atletico.

It’s an encouraging move from the Midlands club, who suffered greatly last summer as a result of lack of funds, seeing many depart with no replacement.

O’Neil has made his stance on wanting to replenish his squad clear throughout his time at Molineux so far, with Fosun delivering quickly with the capture Gomes.

It’s an interesting move for Wolves to start their summer of business by targeting a wide player, with the futures of both Pedro Neto and Nelson Semedo speculated.

Gomes is capable of providing cover for either of the two right-sided stars, who add so much to O’Neil’s system, reinforcing how strong of a capture the 20-year-old is.

Securing the signing early is an impressive piece of business by Wolves, who will now have the summer and pre-season with the player to ensure he is up to speed in preparation for the 2024/25 campaign.
