The president of Club America Santiago Baños has claimed he held talks with Raul Jimenez about a possible transfer for the striker.
Record reported yesterday that Baños has opened the door for the 31-year-old to make a return to his former club.

Club America were Jimenez’s first club.
He made 103 appearances for their first-team, before leaving them in 2014 to join Atletico Madrid.
It was not a successful spell, and one year later he joined Benfica.
And then in 2018, Jimenez signed for Wolves and would go on to become one of the club’s greatest ever players.
In recent times though Jimenez has struggled. Since the awful head injury he suffered in November 2020, he has sadly not looked the fearsome centre-forward he once was.
Goals have proven hard to come by for the Mexican, and lately Wolves have not been counting on him at all. Manager Julen Lopetegui has left him out of the last two matchday squads.

Prior to this there had been some speculation about his future and how he could be departing Molineux this summer.
And now, Baños has added fuel to the fire.
He said: “I spoke with Raúl before the World Cup. He has a contract for many years in England and his short-term idea is to stay in Europe and be there.”
Jimenez’s current contract with Wolves expires in the summer of 2024.
It is very possible the £100,000-a-week star could leave this summer, as it would be the last proper chance for the club to make a bit of money on him.
Raul Jimenez seems destined to leave Wolves this summer, especially following comments from Club America’s president
At this point, it would be a major surprise if Jimenez didn’t leave Wolves this summer.
There just feels an inevitability about it. He’s not been selected for the last two squads, and this could be Lopetegui trying to usher in a new era.
Jimenez has been an unbelievable servant for Wolves. In his prime, he was a top-class number nine.

But this season, as well as last, he has really struggled and he himself might just feel it is time for a new chapter.
He will be 32 next month, and a return to Club America does seem like a good final chapter before he finishes his career.
Certainly, their president seems keen to bring him back.
But that said, Baños seems to think Jimenez wants to stay in Europe.
If he leaves Wolves, then perhaps a move to Spain could be on the cards.
