Wolves are facing a real battle to land one of their transfer targets, with the player’s club determined to keep him out of their clutches this summer.
Wolves fans have been buoyed by news that Rodrigo Gomes is set to join the club in the coming days.
An agreement was reached between Wolves and Braga on Sunday, and the winger will complete a £12.7 million move. He is having his medical on Tuesday and should be unveiled very soon.
Wolves supporters are hoping to see more new faces follow Gomes to Molineux.
Recently, the club were linked with a move for Werder Bremen livewire Justin Njinmah, who caught the eye in 2023/24 despite having some injury problems.
But Wolves seemingly have a lot of work to do to get this particular deal done this summer…
Werder Bremen are trying to extend Justin Njinmah’s contract amid Wolves interest

It has been reported by German publication Bild that Werder Bremen are determined to keep hold of Njinmah this summer, with their player having just enjoyed his best campaign to date.
Njinmah was limited to just 24 appearances in the end, as he missed the final eight league games due to both injury and illness. But he did score six goals and supply a couple of assists.
Njinmah has been developing nicely, and Werder simply do not want him to leave.
Recently, Werder’s head of first-team football Clemens Fritz stated that the club were intending to open talks with the player about signing a new contract.
And now, Fritz has reiterated that desire, saying that talks have now commenced. He told Bild: “Basically, Justin still has a contract and we are very interested in extending it. We are in good talks, but there is no time window.”
Njinmah’s current contract runs until the summer of 2026. Should the player agree to fresh terms, it could scupper any hopes of a move for Wolves.
Njinmah move looks a world away
It really does sound like Wolves have a lot of work to do if they are going to prise Njinmah away from Werder.
The player’s stance has not yet been reported. But Werder are clearly very keen to keep hold of him, after he was one of their most influential players last season despite missing some games.
Obviously at the moment, Wolves are in the process of signing Rodrigo Gomes and there is a chance that he could be deployed as a winger, despite mainly playing as a wing-back last term.
But Pedro Neto could yet leave the club. Wolves would need another wide forward in the even of that happening.
But it looks as though the club may have to look at other options than the ‘explosive’ Njinmah.
