Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea.
According to the Telegraph, the Blues have drawn up a shortlist of players ahead of the summer transfer window, and it supposedly features the Spanish speedster.
It is a bit of a surprise report but, thinking about it a little deeper, it’s actually a big concern for Wolves.
It has recently been reported that talks are back on between Traore and Wolves regarding a new contract.
But this could potentially put a spanner in the works.
Traore has been with Wolves for three years now, and he has two years remaining on his contract.
He’s 25 years old, and may well be thinking about new challenges after a tough year.
Chelsea have just won the Champions League, and are a hugely competitive and attractive outfit.
Under an elite manager like Thomas Tuchel they have the potential to fight it out with Manchester City for the Premier League title, and why wouldn’t Traore want to be a part of that?
He would potentially be a great fit for the systems they use, which are not dissimilar to the ones Wolves adopt.
What’s more, Chelsea have a strong Spanish contingent consisting of players like Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso. there’s also the Spanish-speaking Willy Caballero.
There’s every chance Chelsea could come in with a big offer, and Wolves are reported to be needing player sales in order to make new signings that will improve the starting XI.
Traore is massively important to Wolves, but fans may just have to brace themselves if Chelsea are seriously keen.
