A player Wolves have been credited with an interest in is now the subject of a £17 million bid from Chelsea.
So far this summer, Gary O’Neil has brought in three new faces, and also turned Tommy Doyle’s loan move from Manchester City permanent.
It has been a few weeks now since Wolves were active in the transfer market, with pre-season having commenced.
The focus right now for O’Neil is to get his players in the best possible shape heading into the new season. But that does not mean to say that things are not happening behind the scenes.
There has been a bit of speculation this summer surrounding the goalkeeper position.
It has previously been claimed that Jose Sa is ready to depart Molineux this summer and that his agent Jorge Mendes was sounding out interest.
Filip Jorgensen was someone Wolves have apparently looked at – but he could now be set for a move to Chelsea.
Filip Jorgensen could now make move to Chelsea after recent Wolves links

Jorgensen plays his football with Villarreal, and last season he really impressed for the Yellow Submarines.
As per WhoScored, he made the most saves of any goalkeeper in La Liga in 2023/24, and as a result a number of clubs have taken a look at him this summer.
Wolves were said to be one such club.
But things went quiet on that story and then, in June, Jorgensen actually signed a new contract at Villarreal.
But despite that, journalist Fabrizio Romano has today reported that Chelsea are now trying to sign the player.
He wrote on X: “EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea send first bid in the region of €20m to Villarreal for Filip Jorgensen! It follows talks on player side as revealed earlier this week; he’s on the list as potential new GK for Maresca. Jorgensen, keen on the move.”
It remains to be seen how Villarreal will react to this first proposal.
Wolves unlikely to bid at this point
We have already seen Wolves steal one player away from Chelsea this summer, with the club luring Pedro Lima a few weeks ago.
He had looked all set to move to Stamford Bridge, before Wolves sold their project to the teenager.
But it doesn’t look like there will be a second hijack with Jorgensen, as Wolves currently don’t find themselves in need of a new goalkeeper.
It has been all quiet with Sa in recent weeks following that claim about Mendes sounding out interest from other clubs. Sa is currently on vacation after the Euros and is expected to join midway through the club’s tour of the US.
He seems set to be Wolves’ number one again for 2024/25. Dan Bentley has been linked with Arsenal, but even if he made that move, Wanderers likely would not move for Jorgensen.
Jorgensen would be seen as a number one goalkeeper, so it would probably take for Sa to leave for Wolves to get involved here. And even if Sa did leave, it may already be too late with Chelsea clearly active in trying to sign the player.
