Wolves are set to miss out on Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho, with Hull City having moved ahead in the race to land him on loan.
Wanderers were linked with Carvalho recently, apparently submitting an enquiry last week. These claims were then backed up by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Wolves don’t have much money to spend this month as they keep an eye on Profit and Sustainability rules and so, loan moves and cheap deals are expected to be the priority.
Carvalho – who joined Liverpool for just over £7 million from Fulham – is available, but it looks as though Wolves may now be missing out…
Hull City now in pole position to land Fabio Carvalho ahead of Wolves

Wolves have not been the only club showing an interest in Carvalho, who’s returned to Liverpool from RB Leipzig after struggling for minutes.
Several sides want this promising young talent, and it looks like Hull City may have stolen a march on the rest.
Sky Sports News reported this morning that the Tigers have moved ahead in the race, with presenter Tom White saying: “Hull are in pole position now to sign Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho on loan. Liam Rosenior’s side are understood to have made a move to sign him and given him a regular starting place.
“There’s nothing official yet, but a move could progress quickly this week in the hope he’s registered in time for their next game, which is against Norwich on Friday night. Leicester and Southampton are also interested but at the moment, we understand Hull City are in pole position.”
In the last minutes, journalist David Ornstein has reported on the situation, saying on X: “Fabio Carvalho expected to join Hull on loan from Liverpool. Came down to them + Southampton – #SaintsFC not given up but after Rosenior + Morton talks, 21yo favours #HCFC & anticipated to be done in coming days.”
A shame, but promise of game time is key
So, it is looking like Wolves will not sign Carvalho and that he will head to the Championship.
It would be a shame for Wolves to miss out considering Carvalho does have exciting potential and the club have admired him for a while, but ultimately, regular game time is paramount for him.
He’s hardly played at Leipzig and both he and Liverpool don’t want another situation in the second half of the season of him not playing much.
At Wolves, he would probably be a useful squad player but it’s questionable whether he would be a regular starter with everyone fit.
Gary O’Neil has at least four solid midfield options, and then the likes of Pablo Sarabia, Matheus Cunha, Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-chan would all be competing with him for minutes.
