Championship club make permanent offer for ‘intelligent’ Wolves youngster with interest hotting up

There are a number of players who could be leaving Wolves before the end of the transfer window.

The last few days have been dominated by talk of Matheus Cunha, who has a number of clubs on his tail.

Cunha has been stalling over signing a new contract at Wolves, but it was claimed last night that Wolves don’t want to sell Cunha and expect him to stay.

Mario Lemina is someone who could well be on his way out.

Lemina recently refused to play for Wolves against Newcastle, and Vitor Pereira has said Lemina won’t play while the transfer window is still open.

There’s been speculation over the likes of Hwang Hee-chan and Pablo Sarabia too.

But we could also see youngster Luke Cundle leave the club, with one club having now made an offer.

It was reported yesterday evening that Millwall have now made an offer to sign Luke Cundle.

Cundle has made the first-team squad a few times this season, but has mostly been with the U21s.

He stuck around in the summer after playing on loan at Stoke City last season, and there was some surprise that he did not head out for another loan or leave permanently ahead of 2024/25.

But it looks as though Cundle could be on the move in the coming days, with interest in the player hotting up.

Journalist Alex Crook wrote on X: “#MillwallFC have made a permanent offer for #Wolves midfielder Luke Cundle. Believe other championship clubs monitoring the situation.”

Swansea City were credited with an interest in Cundle recently, and could well be a club to rival Millwall for the youngster.

But everything is up in the air at the moment, and some Wolves fans recently suggested Cundle should stay at the club in case the club end up being relegated.

Wolves should loan out Cundle again

Given the situation Wolves are in at the moment, the club should probably be looking to loan Cundle out, rather than sell him.

With Wolves facing relegation, it’s very possible the club could drop into the second tier later this year.

That will mean the likes of Joao Gomes and Andre will leave, and Lemina if he doesn’t go in this window.

Cundle has plenty of Championship experience, so he could actually make a good starting midfielder. U21s manager James Collins branded Cundle ‘intelligent’ previously, and also stated he had an ‘outstanding football brain’.

So Wolves shouldn’t be too hasty here, and try to sanction a loan if possible.
