Cerro Porteno transfer stance on Gabriel Aguayo now emerges amid reported Wolves interest

Wolves could add to their four arrivals this summer as another transfer target has been identified by Gary O’Neil.

The summer transfer window has been encouraging for Wolves so far, who have welcomed four players to the club.

Tommy Doyle made his move from Manchester City permanent to kick things off, with Rodrigo Gomes, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Pedro Lima next in line.

The four arrivals represent a refreshing change ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 campaign, with another possible target now identified.

Cerro Porteno happy to sell Gabriel Aguayo to Wolves if the price is right

Out of nowhere, Wolves’ interest in Gabriel Aguayo came to light courtesy of the player’s own agent.

The 19-year-old’s agent Jani Delmas confirmed that there is ‘a following’ from Wolves as well as the teen being of interest to clubs in Argentina and Brazil.

A development has come as well as Delmas’ comments, as Paraguayan outlet Versus shared an insight into what the winger’s club Cerro Porteno think of the Premier League side’s interest.

The report details that while Cerro want to keep Aguayo if a ‘real and attractive offer’ is received, the Paraguayan club will have ‘no problem’ selling to Wolves.

It’s added that Wolves have had their eye on Aguayo ‘for some time’, with an offer in the region of £3m being a reasonable price to see the teen part ways with his boyhood club.

Wolves have a firm eye on Paraguayan talent

Interstingly, Aguayo isn’t the only Paraguayan youngster to have been linked to Wolves with summer.

Earlier in the window, it was suggested that Wolves had an interest in Ramon Sosa, who plays in Argentina for Talleres.

It’s claimed that Talleres are eyeing Aguayo alongside Wolves as a possible replacement for Sosa, in what could be an interesting turn of events.

It’s also known that Wolves captured Enso Gonzalez from Libertad last summer, with the club now looking to add to the Paraguayan youth in their ranks.

Having contributed to five goals in only nine starts for Cerro in Paraguay’s top flight, Aguayo looks to be a hot prospect in attack, and a player who Wolves are watching closely.

Given the moves that the Old Gold have already made this summer, it’s clear that Gary O’Neil is hiring with a thought to the future, with all four of the club’s arrivals being under the age of 25.

Only time will tell how Wolves approach their pursuit of Aguayo, who is in demand in South America.
