It was surprisingly claimed on Tuesday that Wolves youngster Fer Lopez was the subject of interest from Celta Vigo, but there’s one big stumbling block for the Spanish side.
It has been a difficult start to life at Molineux for Fer Lopez following his summer move to the club.
Lopez initially impressed in pre-season, but has found minutes very hard to come by in 2025/26 and currently, he is one of the least used players in the squad.
Does Fer Lopez deserve more minutes for Wolves?
Fans have been frustrated to see him play so little.
But there’s no denying he has also struggled at times when called upon.
On Tuesday, it was surprisingly claimed that Celta Vigo are looking to bring Lopez back on a loan basis.
But another report has indicated there is one big stumbling block at the moment.
Why Fer Lopez returning to Celta Vigo is currently highly unlikely

To date, Lopez has made just seven appearances for Wolves, for a total of 235 minutes.
Only Mateus Mane, who has mostly played for the U21s this season, has had fewer minutes than that.
Considering Lopez cost nearly £20 million, that is a disappointing level of involvement – and as a result, there is now talk of an early exit.
But while Celta may want to take Lopez back, Marca point out a significant hurdle for the club at the moment.
And that is Lopez’s salary.
They say that his salary is ‘unacceptable’ for Celta, and even if it were reduced, they would need to free up the salary cap to sign him.
The publications mention three players – Aidoo, Cervi and Marc Vidal – may be considered for exits to make something happen.
As of today, this operation for Celta is deemed complex and unlikely.
Lopez transfer has been a failure so far

That Lopez is being linked with an early exit from Wolves really does highlight just what a disappointment his move has been so far.
It just hasn’t worked out for him yet, although the change of manager could potentially see his situation change.
Seemingly, Vitor Pereira didn’t entirely trust Lopez, and it was perhaps ominous that Rob Edwards did not turn to him against Crystal Palace.
There was real hype when Fer Lopez first signed for Wolves
Lopez could well be a creative spark who can help Edwards, but he does seem to have a lot of work to do.
But it looks like Celta may struggle to sign him in January because of the finances.
But there is potential for him to still depart – most likely on loan – if he still has a lack of involvement for Wolves going into the next window.
