Fer Lopez has emerged as a potential departure for Wolves in January, and the director of Celta Vigo has actually now commented on the Spaniard.
Earlier this week it was reported that Celta were eyeing a potential loan swoop for Lopez, having seen how little he has played at Molineux so far.
Does Fer Lopez deserve more minutes for Wolves?
Fer Lopez has not had the start he would have been hoping for, with the Spaniard having really struggled to gain the trust of Vitor Pereira.
Pereira is no longer the manager at Wolves, of course, meaning Lopez’s fortunes could now change.
But Celta Vigo have been linked with a move for their old player – and now their director of football has commented on him.
Marco Garcés really wants to sign Fer Lopez for Celta Vigo

Fans had really high hopes for Lopez.
Things may yet change and he might have more prominence under Rob Edwards, but certainly right now he has a lot of work to do to become a regular at Molineux.
But there seems to now be a bit of doubt regarding his immediate future.
That said, Celta may struggle to sign Lopez due to his wages.
But the club’s director of football Marco Garcés certainly seems keen on a move if it can be done.
He said (as quoted by Marca): “It’s very complicated.
“We’d love to have him back at some point, but right now it seems very difficult. They made a big investment that they’ll want to recoup.
“We don’t have any open discussions. He’ll always be an interesting player, but at the moment it seems very difficult. He’d be a fantastic addition to our squad.”

Lopez feels like another Francisco Trincao for Wolves

It remains to be seen what will happen with Lopez, with Celta clearly keen to bring him back. Seemingly, any move is very much going to depend on Wolves – potentially, if they do sanction a loan they may end up paying some of the player’s wages.
Previously, Wolves have had a similar player to Lopez.
In 2021, Wolves landed Francisco Trincao from Barcelona on loan, and there was a lot of hype over that signing.
Fer Lopez was buzzing to sign for Wolves
Unfortunately, the Portuguese – who is similar in play style to Lopez, being a tall, left-footed technician – struggled during his time at the club.
The physicality didn’t really suit him, and he has gone on to do much better at Sporting CP.
Trincao did actually spend a full season at Wolves, so we’ll see if Lopez is afforded the same chance.
